If you have moved into a property and we don’t have historical energy usage, we calculate your monthly payment by dividing your estimated annual cost by 12 to get equal monthly instalments. The estimated annual cost is made up of your property information, the heating source and estimated occupancy. By dividing the payment into 12 equal instalments, this addresses seasonal variation and means you don’t have to pay higher or lower amounts at different points in the year, making it easier to budget.
Typically energy costs are higher in the winter, when you use more heating and lighting and lower in the summer. This does vary by utility, for example energy used from solar sources is the opposite- higher in the summer and lower in the winter.
If you have lived at your property for at least 6 months, we will use your historical usage to predict your annual cost and monthly payment.
