The BEE is our in-home hub. It’s the brain that connects all the devices you’ll find in a net zero home. It makes intelligent decisions to run things efficiently, serving residents and working in harmony with the energy system. The BEE is at the heart of our products and services.
The BEE is at the heart of Sero
Our mission is to accelerate the transition to net zero in housing. We’re here to support you along your whole retrofit journey. From planning, during delivery, and in operation. To do that better than anyone else, we treat every home as unique. Measuring retrofit outcomes and verifying real savings. Learning from real-time insights.
The BEE consolidates information from:
• Sensors monitoring the internal environment
• Meters measuring energy use
• Controls for compatible devices
Powering Energy Costs
Saving energy at home doesn’t have to mean compromising on comfort. Homes with devices that are connected to Sero’s smart controls are achieving an average 30% reduction in total energy bills compared to an average UK home of similar size and occupancy.
If your home has the capability for control and you are a Sero Life customer, the BEE enables you to reduce bills with easy-to-use temperature controls and an app. We constantly track tariffs to make sure you are getting the best deal and the Sero:Life app provides a familiar face to a home full of futuristic tech.
If the BEE in your home is supplied by a landlord for monitor only, it will still be able to help you save money by monitoring functionality, suppling energy insights to how and where energy is used and measuring your internal environment, helping your home remain cosy and safe.
Data-driven Retrofit & Maintenance
The BEE is like having an engineer in every property. Its insights can improve how to plan, deliver and maintain retrofit measures, for you or your landlord.
There are a number of measurements that the BEE in your home collects, all of these help us to make sure that your home is working as it should, and that you are as comfortable as you can be. We collect information to understand..
Indoor Environment
Your home's temperature, humidity, C02 readings.
User Interactions
Scheduled heating and hot water setpoints and how you use the energy in your home to both heat your rooms and your hot water.
If your home has been installed with renewable technology like solar panels and a battery we could collect the below information from your BEE...
Energy
Incoming and exported energy
Renewables
Energy generation along with the renewable energy and power exported
Battery Storage
Your batteries current capacity, energy import and export status and battery control status.

The first line of support
Our Cardiff-based customer team is on hand when you need help. Take comfort that Sero is the first line of support for devices connected to the BEE. In the app, on chat and by phone. Monitoring means issues are spotted faster and fewer engineer call-outs are needed. From 100s of mostly new homes, our service figures show that 4 in 5 issues are resolved without a visit.
